A comprehensive autism evaluation helps determine whether your child is showing characteristics consistent with autism spectrum disorder. These assessments look closely at social communication skills, patterns of behavior, sensory needs, and how these areas may be affecting daily life at home, at school, and with peers. The results provide a clear picture of your child’s strengths and challenges and guide the selection of supports, therapies, and strategies that can improve social understanding, emotional regulation, and learning.

Autism evaluations typically include:

  • Cognitive assessment of thinking and reasoning skills (verbal, nonverbal, visual–spatial, working memory, and processing speed)

  • A structured, play-based or interaction-based assessment to observe communication, social engagement, flexibility, and behavior

  • Behavior rating scales completed by parents and teachers to understand how skills and behaviors appear across settings

  • A comprehensive written report with diagnoses (if applicable) and individualized recommendations for home, school, and therapy
